Paging Tones

In July, 2005, the NF2G Scannist Pages became the first New York hobbyist website to begin posting paging tone combinations to benefit users of the new Uniden BCD396T and BR330T scanners.  Tone lists linked below contain 1+1 style and/or long single tone group paging tones because these are the only types that can be decoded by the Fire Tone Out feature.  Since my 396 was updated to firmware version 1.08 and beyond, it also responds to 2+2 tone transmissions if either tone is programmed.  Because of this enhanced capability, I am also listing 2+2 tones (also known by their Motorola trade name QuikCall or QuikCall I) where available.

On-call public safety personnel can help with the tone lists, even if you aren't certain about the technical details of your agency's tones.  Just look at the back of your home receiver and copy whatever is marked there that might indicate the alerting information.  If you have a pager, check it for a tone label, or open it up and jot down what is marked on the reeds or comb filters that are installed, and send me that info along with the alerting frequency and what your tones sound like (higher one first, or vice-versa).  I have the necessary charts to figure out the tones and I will post them to this website.

I do not list names when posting new tone info.  Some agencies consider this information to be sensitive or proprietary - despite the fact that several of us are obtaining the data by direct monitoring and analysis of publicly accessible (as defined in Chapter 119 of the United States Code) radio transmissions.  I will not expose contributors of information to any risk, especially if they happen to be affiliated with a public safety agency.
